colorado trip- bison ranch

this bison ranch we went to in cheyenne, wyoming was my favorite thing. it was the most quirky, touristy place, and i loved it like crazy!
how can you go wrong when you walk into the lodge, and see things like this!?

the boys grabbed some cowboy hats from the gift shop, and jumped on the patched-together taxidermy for some photo-ops.
awesome.

i love how finn and miles have this faraway look in their eyes as they are standing behind these props. the place was full of things to see, though, so it's genuine!

check out brave leo on this t-a-l-l fence!

we took a train ride around the place, if you can call riding in one box car a train!

but it was so fun. i loved how it was painted.

we had the train to ourselves, and the boys made straight for the back.

we were surprised to see camels there, too! we got to stop and feed them a bit, but they aren't the friendlies animals, so we kind of kept our distance and left most of it up to the driver/tour-guide.

and then... bison!

feeding these guys was part gross, and part cool. miles was so proud of himself for doing it- he loved it so much. that was awesome.
something about these animals is so nostalgic. to think how many there used to be, roaming the plains, makes you realise just what an impact we've had and how different things are today.

this trip was so fun. miles loved feeding the buffalo, and that the tour guide pulled off some loose hair for him! he also collected armfuls of feathers from the turkeys and other birds that lived there. we saw lots of other animals, like llamas, alpacas, pigs, cats, turkeys, horses, etc.
they also had a fun, home made playground that the boys loved playing on, as well as a shifty-looking amusement park that they run in warmer months. i only regret not going back to the gift shop to get some buffalo and arrowhead patches for the boys. we'll just have to go again some day!

Leo is getting so big!! (and adventurous and brave) Yay for accounts of your adventures! I loved the obvious delight of the boys on the saddles of the taxidermied animals.

I love these pictures and I love Patsy's scarf over her hair. I don't know what they are called. More ladies should wear those, they are cool.
