love pack

i've been working on a "love pack" (named by finn) for the boys to have while we're in tokyo- filled with little surprises for them each day. somehow this makes me feel a bit better about leaving them!

every morning it will be something new: disposable cameras, so we can see what they did while we were away, a journal for them to write/draw in and show us when we come home, stickers with airplanes and japanese food, some japanese candy, a fortune cookie that's as big as my head, some fleece hearts to sleep with, and little japanese flags made of felt and glued to chopsticks. (pretty resourceful, right?) not pictured are some photos of mr. o and i holding posters that say "we love miles", "we love finn" and "we love leo" for them to hang by their beds, and this dvd for them to watch.

on the cover of the notebook, which is made from some copy paper and a cereal box that i had bound at a copy center, are two white squares for miles to draw an american and japanese flag.
i hope that they & the family members watching them will write down some of the things that happen so we won't feel like we're missing so much! i'm also going to leave a note for them each day. i hope these boys of mine will be safe & happy, and i'm SO very grateful to our families for their willingness to step in for them while we're away- thank you!
