so, my sweet boy turned six.
he really didn't ask for much this year, he wanted things like stickers and some marbles he saw at the craft store (you can see where we've been spending time lately!). but he did request a dance party, and so that's what we did.
we found it was cheaper to just buy a disco ball vs. renting one, so we are now the proud owners of a really awesome (semi)permanent party fixture in our basement!it's rad.
we got sunglasses, poppers, and disco ball necklaces for favors. only they were really poorly made- especially the sunglasses- and kind of fell apart. sorry, kids! we'll do better next time..
the dancing was mostly a hit. some of the boys were kind of over it after the first song, but they hung in there while the girls, miles, and one or two other boys grooved non-stop!
here's the cute group. it was a good turn-out, we missed a few girls, but it all worked out. miles scored some new legos, art supplies, and other fun toys & games, so he was pretty thrilled.
then later we had pizza with both grandparents, and then cupcakes and ice cream. six candles on a cupcake was a first for us! (we usually have a cake as well, but it's all about simple right now!)
miles said this was his best birthday yet, so i'd say it was a success. whew!
this boy was so sweet, generous, and laid back all day. he is really a gem, and he makes me so proud.
**we're off to japan tomorrow! but just because we're gone doesn't mean it'll be quiet around here- i'm on a roll! i have posts scheduled throughout our trip, so check back every m/w/f

Looks like a fun party! Have fun in Japan. I'm willing to watch all three anytime to give parents/in-laws a break.
Love Miley! Glad he had such a great birthday! Miss you all...
