i can't praise my bulbs enough- although i really should weed their beds. i love the cheer they bring in this freezing 'spring' weather. the funny gnome i got from my grandma fits right in, don't you think?
mr. o was obliging enough to make me some garden boxes. i now have two 3 ft x 3 ft boxes, all divided into squares and ready for soil & seeds. i emptied my compost barrel into them this afternoon, but it doesn't quite look right. i am a total composting amature, this is my first batch. mr. o made me the barrel two years ago, and i have been filling & spinning it since. the boxes are a little deep, so i just put it on the bottom and plan to put a little topsoil on top of it, and then fill the rest up with the special mix that the square foot gardening method requires. i am itching to get it done and off my mind (for now).
i couldn't resist another picture of the lovely flowers cropping up all over! and if anyone has any composting advice, i'd love to hear it.

"Mortality is a period of testing, a time to prove ourselves worthy to return to the presence of our Heavenly Father. In order to be tested, we must sometimes face challenges and difficulties. If you find yourself in such a situation, I plead with you to turn to our Heavenly Father in faith. He will lift you and guide you. He will not always take your afflictions from you, but He will comfort and lead you with love through whatever storm you face."

I am even more a composting amateur, I have a little shallow pit I toss things in and rake up every once in a while (and admire and encourage the worms as I periodically greet them). You have a nifty compost barrel. Clever Mr. O (as always). But it beats not doing it. I've looked it up online, and you can get really super nerdy about it... Adding nitrogen and whatnot to speed it up. Just google it.
