house before & afters: boys' room

and so begins the revealing of our new house.

it's been a little hard for me to feel like i'm ready to post 'after' pictures, because i feel like our home will always be a work in progress- but i am at a point where i feel like at least half of the rooms are finished (for now).

so we'll start with the boys room.

here are a few befores:
i have to apologize to those of you who are fond of the color burgundy or maroon, but it happens to be my least favorite color ever. in fact i can't stand it. so, while almost all of the paint was questionable in the bedrooms, this was at least as bad to me as the hot pink in the nursery and the funky sponge painted master bedroom.
you can see the deep scratches in the drywall here. i wish the door had been closed in this picture, it was shocking. they had painted it a bright orange, and then sponge painted red over that, except in the grooves.
grey closet doors. unfortunately, the used oil based paint on all the doors (no doors were left white) so even though they got painted over, the paint is starting to peel. so we still have re-painting those on our to-do list.
frustrating.
looking back at these befores really makes me appreciate the afters that much more. you can't see the wall texture in these pictures, but it makes such a huge difference. i am so grateful for the work that went into our home.
i love it.
you'll have to forgive the ultra-bright lighting, it didn't seem so bright on the camera screen!

as you can tell, i love bright colors, and i feel like the boys' room is the perfect place to channel all the bright stuff. just not on the doors, i'll take those white thankyouverymuch!

i really love the beadboard in this room, i am so glad landon & mr. o took the time to put it in for me.

mr. o hung this picture for me just in time for these pictures. i was lucky enough to be able to do another trade with susan from persimmon & pink, so look for more of her prints in the coming days!

and here is miles' half of the room. i didn't want any pictures on the wall above his bed because it is actually a bunk bed and we'll set up the other bunk when finn grows out of his crib.

a rare shot of his bed actually made. finn discovered it shortly after and lost no time messing it all up.
here is the bright green dresser we painted. the color scared me at first, but since then i've gotten used to it, and it works.

top of the dresser. standard humidifier (the boys sleep with it on every night).
miles scored the little clown music box for free after he picked up trash off the lawn at the neighbors garage sale. the little gnome figure is from my grandma.

I love it Eve. The lighter color looks so much better. And the green dresser is perfect! Goes with all the other colors. What a cute little mom you are.

I love all the bright colors with the neutral paint. VERY CUTE! The dresser looks great with the leaf over miles bed, and other similar colored accents in the room. Good choice. Though I am not surprised, you have fantastic taste.
