in the works

(photo courtesy of mr. o- along with a photo shopped picture of landon as if it's hanging in our garage..)

i can't even tell you how happy & excited i am about the mantle shelf mr. o and landon have been working on. i wish i could've watched the whole process- i know there are many, many, MANY individual pieces that make up the whole, and just as many precise cuts and techniques used to achieve this final product. i am over the moon about it!

i had this idea for a shelf for the living room, so i could change pictures (and other decorations) and not put too many holes in the walls. it started out simple: some wood and angle brackets, but soon morphed into an elaborate mantle shelf reminiscent of bygone days when homes had amazing detailed molding and woodwork.

lucky for me we have an incredible, experienced connection when it comes to woodworking. and lucky for me i have a sweet husband who loves me. a lot. and is willing to put in countless hours of work to turn my decorating dreams into reality.

so here is the finished shelf, before the paint. i can't wait to show you more pictures once it's painted and hung! isn't it beautiful?
