we kept the decorations for the police party pretty simple: blue & red helium ballons, and a blue tablecloth with red plates & cups. i also had some regular balloons i blew up as the kids were arriving for them to throw and play with.

the first game we played was 'pin the badge on the policeman', which was a poster we made by tracing miles and drawing in the uniform details.

then, we colored paper badges and toppers for the party favor bags. we cut out the badges and taped safety pins on the back, then pinned them on the kids' shirts. i was so happy that a few of my friends were there to help assemble the badges and the favor bags.

in each bag we included a shiny gold badge, a squirt gun, a flashlight or a soft foam car, and some candy.

the next game we played was a hide-and-seek of sorts, where we hid some 'police tools' (handcuffs, flashlight, radio, badge, toy gun, and gloves) and had the kids find them and then put them on their corresponding picture. i drew the pictures just on the back of the policeman poster.
then it was out to the garage where we had a little dance party with a real police car playing some music for the kids to groove to and all the lights flashing.
(we are lucky to have a sweet hook-up in the law enforcement department)

we finished up with red and blue cupcakes and opening presents. miles was thrilled to get toy guns and other great gifts.
it ended up being just as fun as we hoped, and i was really happy with how it all turned out!
most of these pictures were taken by my friend jacey- thanks so much for being the impromptu 'party photographer'!

Such a cute party. You do things the right way... with a lot of love and creativity. I know who to call when a party needs to be thrown.
