house before & afters: nursery

are you tired of the before & after series yet?! this is the last one, at least until the rest of the basement is finished, but i have been excited to share since i have been really involved with getting the nursery ready lately. something to do with 'nesting', they say.

anyways, here are the befores:

that pink was bright!! and, like i mentioned before, it's oil based paint, so even though the doors were painted over, it's flaking off in some spots and that pink is showing through. not very subtle, i tell you!

even the ceiling was blue. i love the deep window, just not like this!

i am so happy with the afters, though:

soft grey and white are the perfect soothing paint colors for this nursery, i think.

since this will be our third boy, i've already done the green and the blue, and was ready for more variety. i ended up using a rainbow of colors, offset by lots of neutrals so it is still fairly calm.

i've been so busy with sewing projects for this room: the quilt, crib skirt, flag bunting, and a curtain.

and i ended up choosing two different blabla dolls for leo (that's the name we're fairly sure of, by the way!)- the elephant is a new one i just found, and the sprite was on sale & i've had my eye on

him for awhile!

i decorated this lampshade to go with miles' nursery forever ago. luckily it's neutral enough to translate with each nursury 'theme'. my sister found the little dresser for me with miles, too, and it's come in so handy.

here's a shot of the window, with the new curtain. right now there's another persimmon & pink print, and a vintage jingle ball, but i don't know how long that print will last in that spot. so far the boys have been good not to knock it down!

more evidence of my love for pom-pom trim: a shot of a bit of the curtain, as well as the elephant embroidery i traded with sarah for.

this same wall set-up was something i was excited to keep from finn's old room, and it goes so well with the grey walls! i just can't seem to find the little owl that was hanging there before.

it feels so good to have the nursery ready to go!
