our friends were cleaning out their garage & found some old fabric & thought of me. when we went to pick it up, they were sorting through some old clothes & found this dress. i instantly saw the potential for a skirt, and asked if i could have it!
i just had to do an 80's pose & show off the shoulder pads!
i thought & thought & thought about how i was going to do this, so much so that when it came down to actually starting, i was really intimidated.
but, i took the plunge and i'm pretty happy with how it turned out:
it is a bit too big at the waist, which i am mad at myself about since i could have easily fixed it if i would have tried the waistband on before i sewed it to the skirt. i measured once, but i got distracted with the boys and forgot to try it on after i'd sewn it.
because of that mistake, the pockets are a little too far towards the back, but the loose waist does make the skirt more comfortable i guess, and it's a mistake i can live with. it definitely could've been worse! ]
while this has made me more confidant to try other reconstruction projects in the future, i still need lots more practice with sewing clothing before i'll be even close to comfortable with it!
