our friends were cleaning out their garage & found some old fabric & thought of me. when we went to pick it up, they were sorting through some old clothes & found this dress. i instantly saw the potential for a skirt, and asked if i could have it!

i just had to do an 80's pose & show off the shoulder pads!
i thought & thought & thought about how i was going to do this, so much so that when it came down to actually starting, i was really intimidated.
but, i took the plunge and i'm pretty happy with how it turned out:

it is a bit too big at the waist, which i am mad at myself about since i could have easily fixed it if i would have tried the waistband on before i sewed it to the skirt. i measured once, but i got distracted with the boys and forgot to try it on after
i'd sewn it.

because of that mistake, the pockets are a little too far towards the back, but the loose waist does make the skirt more comfortable i guess, and it's a mistake i can live with. it definitely
could've been worse! ]

while this has made me more confidant to try other reconstruction projects in the future, i still need lots more practice with sewing clothing before
i'll be even close to comfortable with it!
thanks for the new skirt, ramsays! and thanks to miles for taking these pictures- pretty good for a five-year-old, right?
