the text doesn't really show up in this photo, but those are pumpkins thriving in the back and some pretty discouraging watermelon up front.
i planted lots of peas- i have such vivid memories of picking peas at a neighbors house as a child. i don't think i could plant too many! we've eaten lots of these lately.
you can see here that the pumpkins have really taken over- i can't believe how much they're spreading. come see me in the fall if you need pumpkins! these are super good for my gardening ego, but i think next year i'll only plant two or three!
i thought my tomato transplants were goners, so i was thrilled when they made a comeback and started flowering. now we're patiently waiting for the tiny tomatoes to ripen!
the beans were also something i gave up on, but it looks like we may have a few survivors. the cantaloupe and cucumbers i planted never made an appearance, but the zucchini (not pictured) has been a champ!
there's nothing quite like eating food from your own back yard! do you have a garden? what are your favorite things to grow?

love the pics and I'm excited to (and hope it actually works/happens) do one next year. I'm sure in your own yard makes a huge difference... Yours looks awesome!!!!!! (Maybe we'll snag a pumpkin off you for Halloween...) ;)
yeah- we've had a couple of crazy hailstorms that kind of wiped out the pumkins & watermelon. at least the pumpkin leaves are shot, so we'll see if they make a comeback!
your plants are waaaay bigger than mine. I thought some of mine were goners that have made comebacks as well. My one surviving cucumber plant now has 2 (two!!) cucumbers on it! And my original watermelon sprouts all shriveled up, but a late sprouting one came up just after they all died and is now flourishing (though very small still). Your garden looks awesome! I'll have to try peas and carrots next year...
Liesel, you should try peas and carrots--and lettuces: all cool season crops would prob'ly do better up there. It's a crazy year with peas still in late July in Utah, Eve!
I planted ONE yellow squash and it's totally taking over the garden--pushing your dad's potato plants and shading my little tomatoes too!
