did you have a good mothers day?
mine was perfect. i am so incredibly blessed to be a mother. i feel that.
i love my boys so much.
my darling finn was born to me on mothers day. that was a sweet, special day.
some thoughtful volunteers had given the new mothers at the hospital each a geranium plant, but i didn't think mine would last for long. i have never been able to keep plants alive, but somehow this sturdy plant survived! i have grown quite attached to it, in a silly sentimental way, so i made up my mind that finn should buy me a new geranium plant every few years on mothers day, when i need a replacement. the original plant has gotten very scraggly and pathetic after four years, and i am sorry to say it was time for a new one.
finn was very proud to present it to me, although he didn't believe that he was born on mothers day when i told him the story. funny kid.
mr. o also tilled the garden for me, which is exactly what i wanted.
the boys filled out some cute questionnaires at church that i have to record.
from miles:
my mom makes the best: chicken (which is funny because the other night he was complaining about it!)
my favorite thing to do with my mom is: bear hug her
my mom is good at: pizza (miles says he likes my homemade pizza better than any other kind. i disagree, but i'm totally flattered that he thinks so!)
my mom is as beautiful as: sneezing flower (goof!)
my mom teaches me: be good
from finn:
my mom is 5 years old
my mom has brown hair and brown eyes
when my mom was a little girl she liked to ride bikes
my mom likes to do vacuuming in her spare time (ha! that couldn't be farther from the truth)
my mom's favorite book is all kinds
my mom likes to ride the 4 wheeler with me (aww. i'm glad he thinks so)
my mom's favorite thing to make for dinner is pizza. (i guess it's a hit!)
my mom's favorite snack is crackers
my favorite thing to do with my mom is going to the museum
my favorite thing about my mom is she gives me hugs & kisses
i also feel very grateful for my own sweet mom. there is nothing in this world like your own mother, she is the epitome of motherhood for me, she's the definition. the essence of my bond and my feeling for her make it an honor and joy to be a mother myself, and i hope that my boys will feel for me and from me what i do for her.
then there's my mother-in-law. i got a good one! she is so sweet and selfless and kind. she puts so much into her relationships with her family, and others. she is my friend. i am grateful for her, and again, i hope that someday my daughter-in-laws will come to love me as i love her.
i have also had two very sweet, very different grandmothers, who provided many happy memories and good examples that i treasure. i also have one surviving grandmother-in-law who is such a character and who i have come to love dearly.
i always feel for the single women and the childless on mothers day. i can only imagine their feelings, and it's heart wrenching.
i really had to grow into my role as a mother, it definitely didn't come naturally to me, but i have come to love it so much. i just hope that i can be as happy as a mother when my boys are older. i can't help but feel that these years while they are young are the best, but i'm keeping my fingers crossed that i feel that way at every stage.
