busy weekend

i think mr. o deserves some type of award for the weekend.
he complied with driving long hours to a very extended family reunion, took me thrifting twice, and pretty much went along with all my schemes for the weekend.
we started out by visiting my aunt pam, who is currently battling breast cancer.
it was so great to be able to see her. she showed us this cool pizza place in logan, utah called factory pizza. i swear there must be a place like this on every college campus.

it was downstairs in a dark basement, with lots of wood and names carved all over the tables & benches.

the pizza was good (i order mine with no cheese! just olives, mushrooms + spinach- mmmm!) but not very filling. that huge crust was really light if you can believe!

soon after i sat down, i looked in front of me on the table and saw my baby's name! what are the chances of that- me happening to sit where my son's name is carved? and his name isn't even brad or dave!

then as we were getting ready to leave, i happened to see miles' name on the bench right next to where i was sitting! i couldn't believe it! i half heartedly looked around for finn's name, but no luck. i don't know if i didn't think it would be there, or if i was scared it would be- that would just be too much!

we were the only ones from my family at the reunion, and my aunt was the only one from my extended family. it goes to show how distant this reunion was that the auctioneer (the son of the lady who organized the whole thing) couldn't even pronounce my maiden name. the name that my grandma (who was a mortensen) married in to! so, it was for the descendants of my great-great grandfather, who i also incidentally learned had two wives. i have no idea which wife my family comes from, and neither did my aunt. (dad, do you?)

there was a little cowboy/blacksmith demonstration that the boys liked. they were mostly impressed with the real cowboy who was talking.

leo is all business. he does everything his brothers do lately, i can't even believe how big he thinks he is!

this cool old cabin was right next to the church where the reunion was. brigham city is a cool old city! i would love to go back and explore it a little more.

i have to say the reunion was just an excuse to be able to see my aunt, and go camping (more on that later) and thrifting. also, another draw was that the open house for the brigham city temple was going on, and i wanted to go to that.

unfortunately we missed our opportunity because we got talking to our campsite neighbors as we were leaving, but from what we saw of the outside it's a really beautiful temple!

after we left town, we decided to stop in and see our friends the coils who live in layton. i can't believe it had been so long since we'd been there! it was so great to spend the evening with them.

finn fell in love with their bunny. how cute is that? i have never been more tempted to get an animal, just because my boy is so cute about it.

they intended to send me home with some of their bountiful tomato harvest, but we couldn't help but eat them all as we played and talked in their back yard! my boys all love tomatoes, and we haven't gotten any from our garden so far this year. i am also pretty jealous of their huge raspberry patch.

we capped the night off with a bike ride on some pretty back roads behind their development. to say that i love bike rides is a huge understatement. and riding bikes with erin was pretty awesome, even if we ended up towing kids + scooters and getting eaten by mosquitoes on the way back!

it was such a great weekend, but now i feel like i need another weekend to recover! whew.
