magical fall day

a friend invited us to go in the mountains to find acorns! we were so excited.
the fall colors were at their peak- totally breathtaking.
i was in awe, and my spirit soared as we drove along the canyon road, winding through the splendor with windows down and cat stevens on the radio turned way up.
we found a quiet spot in the oaks where the acorns were plentiful, and where just beyond us the trees were glowing with color.
if i can have a few times like this each fall, this season will fast become my favorite. it started last year, with the most enchanting fall drive of my life, and this year has been a continuation of that.
the pale carpet of leaves on the ground, and the way they blow and scatter through the air like glitter is enough to make me swoon.
although on my bike rides lately, as i ride through my favorite tunnel of trees, i imagine that summer is still here, and try to fix the image of the green leaves in my mind to hold through the impending winter.
