wake up (happy) at 10:00 am (so happy!)
i am amazed that my boys slept/let me sleep that late. hasn't happened in years and i needed it. and so the days' routine is thrown waaay off.
mr. o is on an important phone call in our room, i am nursing finn, and miles finds a stack of cookies on the counter (mr. o's breakfast) and consumes them. now he doesn't want breakfast.
mr. o heads out for the day to work on a project. as he heads out the door he tells me to feel how warm it is, despite the strong winds. i am suprised, and don't want to come inside again. the boys and i proceed to the backyard.
we last about 15 minutes, before the wind gets really annoying.
11:30- am, eat breakfast- honey bunches of oats with almonds. miles decides he is hungry, too (that boy loves his cereal)
11:40- feed finn mango and yogurt, put him down for his nap.
2:30 pm- finn wakes up and we are out the door, on our way to ikea
3:30 pm- lunch at ikea (it is a 40+ minute drive) miles eats swedish meatballs & applesauce and i have a poppyseed bagel and fruit. finn eats sweet potatoes and rice cereal and works on the biggest diaper extravaganza of the year.
4:00 pm-find the lovely diaper changing room (thankyouthankyouthankyou), realize that the 'mess' is not contained in the diaper at all. proceed to undress finn, spreading poop all over his back, arms and hand. miles is shocked at first, then laughing hysterically. finn is screaming. he goes into the sink, which is motion activated, and luckily the water is warm. when the timer is up, he goes into the other sink, and back and forth until he's lathered and rinsed. then we try to get the motion activated paper towel dispenser to dispense enough to dry him off. meanwhile, finn screams.
4:30 pm- proceed to shop at ikea, luckily i have my mei tai carrier, so the bare naked (except a diaper) baby isn't so noticable (or cold). i won't go into detail about the shopping- let's just say it was complicated. we got a high chair, some pillows (to cover), a bamboo plant, and a big bucket of lingonberry jam.
5:30 pm- get in car to go home, see the time & panick- is it really 5:30?!6:15 pm-7:00 arrive home, nurse finn, assemble new high chair, catch up with mr. o, change another messy diaper on finn (and miles) and say goodbye to mr. o as he goes to a church activity.
7:00-7:30- dinner- lingonberry pancakes and red peppers (two courses). go figure. it was quick, and it was what miles wanted. while he eats & i cook, finn throws up on the floor.

8:00- miles in bed. finn eats rice cereal for dinner and goes to bed.

synopsis:
sleeping in throws everything off
miles and finn have 3 messy diapers apeice
finn has one new bruise on his head (but you should see the door!) and one cut on his hand
miles gets his fingernails clipped to prevent more cuts on finn's hand

A Mother’s Most Important Role Is to Love Her Family Above All Else

“I surely know that there is no role in life more essential and more eternal than that of motherhood.“There is no one perfect way to be a good mother. Each situation is unique. Each mother has different challenges, different skills and abilities, and certainly different children. The choice is different and unique for each mother and each family. Many are able to be ‘full-time moms,’ at least during the most formative years of their children’s lives, and many others would like to be. Some may have to work part- or full-time; some may work at home; some may divide their lives into periods of home and family and work. What matters is that a mother loves her children deeply and, in keeping with the devotion she has for God and her husband, prioritizes them above all else.”
